New products: Xella presents Ytong innovations

Time on the construction site is short – at the same time, the requirements on efficiency, safety and sustainability are growing. Xella meets these challenges with innovative spirit and practice-oriented solutions. Two new products from the Ytong product range explain how modern construction materials greatly facilitate planning and implementation, while meeting the highest standards of energy efficiency and fire protection. The further-developed Ytong ThermUltra and the newly developed Ytong parapet element supplement the Xella portfolio in the form of two pioneering solutions.

Fire-prevention approval for the lightest product of its class

The most energetically efficient Ytong product, Ytong ThermUltra, is highly impressive with its outstanding thermal conductivity of λ = 0.07 W/(mK) and is thus ideally suitable for use in Efficiency Houses 40 and Passive Houses. It now offers an additional crucial advantage: Ytong ThermUltra, with immediate effect, has been granted new approval for fire protection and is the only product on the market to have been approved with an especially low density of 300 kg/m³ for use in firewalls (REI-M). With a utilization factor of 0.70 and a minimum thickness of 300 mm, it meets strictest requirements for use in one-side fire exposure.

The new approval not only emphasizes the quality and versatility of Ytong ThermUltra, but also exemplifies Xella’s claim to make available innovative solutions for advanced construction.

Ytong parapet element – intelligent solution on top

Where efficient closure of flat roofs is required, the new Ytong parapet elements fulfill this requirement faster and easier than ever. The autoclaved aerated concrete elements reinforced in-plant are the clever alternative to conventional parapets of in-situ concrete or masonry – for which, for example, formwork is still required and which still need to be reinforced. They are, from the onset, designed to minimize heat loss by optimizing thermal bridges. They likewise meet the specifications for Efficiency House Standard 40, which makes them the new icing on the cake for flat roofs of multi-story residential buildings. They enable, thanks to their simple structural system, sure and efficient planning, fast installation and significant reduction of construction time and costs. Up to 100 running meters daily can be achieved on the construction site. This is a genuine productivity gain, since the installation elements  are installed horizontally as a parapet. The reduced installation costs significantly speed up the construction progress and minimize, at the same time, storage and logistics costs. Added to this are material-specific benefits: The solid Ytong parapet elements have a high static load capacity and easily resist wind loads of up to qw,d ≤ 2.0 kN/m2. They transmit wind loads via the connecting reinforcement into the floor. Furthermore, they are also not combustible (REI 90).

Sustainable and future-oriented

Both products are – the same as for all Ytong products – qualified for the quality label “Quality Seal Sustainable Building” (QNG) and were awarded with the QNG-Ready-Seal by the Sentinel Holding Institute. In this way, they actively contribute to sustainable building design and certification.

With the spirit of innovation, know-how and a clear focus on the challenges of the construction sector, Xella once again offers, with Ytong, practical site solutions for making everyday construction work easier and for making buildings safer, more efficient and more future-oriented.
