Whether it's ski jumping, ice sports, or cross-country skiing, Mapei's products and solutions are helping to make the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina an emotional and sporting highlight of the year. The Games will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026, in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina are generating great enthusiasm among sports fans around the world. Mapei has also been able to contribute to this: numerous sports venues for the Winter Olympics were built using Mapei products and solutions.

Cold, ice, and snow are the characteristic elements of winter sports. It doesn't matter whether they are natural or artificial, whether they are found in the mountains, in the valleys, in small villages, or in large cities. You have to compete with these winter elements to test yourself, push your limits, and perhaps win a medal. This applies equally to the athletes and to the people responsible for building or renovating the facilities for all the races in the various competitions, from bobsleigh and cross-country skiing to figure skating, skiing, ice hockey, and ski jumping.

Olympic Village becomes student housing

Extreme weather conditions, difficult environments, tight schedules, and requirements are the challenges that architects and contractors face when carrying out these projects.

Many of these facilities remain in operation in the region after the Winter Olympics so that winter sports enthusiasts can practice their favorite sports, or they are even used for other purposes that benefit the community, as in the case of the Olympic Village in Milan, which is being converted into student housing.

Mapei has taken on the challenge of developing and offering the best products and technologies for every conceivable situation by conducting research and responding to the needs of professionals in the industry, inspired by its great passion for sport.

1. Ski jumping in Predazzo:

The new ski jumps at the Giuseppe Dal Ben Ski Jumping Facility are ready for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina. The renovation project included the construction of two new ski jumps: the large hill HS143 and the normal hill HS109 with jump heights of 110 and 90 meters, respectively.

2. Cortina Sliding Center:

Built for high performance, safety, and durability, this world-class track is the most advanced in Europe. The bobsleigh track in Cortina was built using special concrete that can withstand freeze-thaw cycles. The concrete mix was produced using Mapei admixtures.

3. Milan Ice Skating Arena:

The historic arena, an important Milan landmark since 1990, was recently renovated with a new, modern ice rink for ice skating and short track speed skating by installing a seamless concrete floor using the Mapcrete system. To increase the strength of the final surface, Mapefibre ST 50 Twisted structural polymer fibers were added to the concrete mix.

4. Tesero Cross-Country Stadium:

The cross-country stadium was equipped with new services to ensure functionality and performance for athletes from all over the world. High-performance concrete with admixtures from the Dynamon Xtend range and Mapefibre ST 30 fibers was used for the stadium's warehouses, gyms, and underground infrastructure to ensure workability and resistance to the harsh conditions of Val di Fiemme.

5. Olympic Village:

From Olympic Village to student accommodation: an urban regeneration project that combines sustainability, innovative construction technology, and design quality. The Olympic Village in Milan has been transformed from a historic railway junction into a new district that will accommodate up to 1,700 Olympic and Paralympic athletes and will later be used by students.
