Progress in prefabrication of reinforcement: The first
M-System BlueMesh with bending system in Scandinavia

Leth Beton A/S, a leading Danish company in precast concrete element production, is the first precast producer in Scandinavia who opts for a mesh welding line with integrated bending system, according to the supplier – the innovative M-System BlueMesh made by the Progress Group. Taking this step, the company gets the industry‘s top position in automation.

Investment for the future

Today, the family-run enterprise founded by Ole Leth in 1993 has a workforce of more than 200 people and offers a wide range of products including concrete walls, stairs, balconies and other elements.

Co-owner and Managing Director, Henrik Egelund, is highly impressed by the preliminary results: „The new equipment achieves material savings of more than 30 %, while we are reducing the workload for our staff members and can made use of their competencies in other fields. The working conditions have improved considerably, since physically demanding activities are largely unnecessary now.“

Gains in efficiency

Commissioning of the mesh welding plant ran almost undisturbed so that Leth Beton was able to start production of flat mesh already a few days later. The gradual integration of the bending system followed soon thereafter. In particular, adapting the design software to the specific requirements of the robot was a challenge, but one that could be mastered well together. Work becomes even more efficient thanks to the implementation of the profit software, that comes as well from the Progress Group. The profit MES system monitors all processes and machines to obtain maximum accuracy and efficiency in the processing of reinforcement steel.

Automated process in detail

The fully automated equipment combines state-of-the-art welding and bending technologies. The production process is divided into the following steps:

1 Wire preparation: Reinforcement wire is fed into the rotor straightening machine from the coil directly.

2. Welding: The straightened wires get to the welding portal where the meshes are welded precisely.

3. Transport and further processing: Welded mesh is either processed directly for storage or via the automated bending system, being prepared for final use.

A quantum leap forward for the industry

With the M-System BlueMesh mesh welding plant, Leth Beton not only has revolutionized the production processes, but also set new standards in the matter of sustainability, efficiency and occupational safety. The success demonstrates how technological innovation can transform traditional industry sectors.
