Non-metallic reinforcement with shape and system – stainless complete solutions for concrete construction

The non-metallic reinforcements offered in the market at present are above all available in a planar shape – that is to say as straight bars or grids. Non-metallic, shaped reinforcements such as required for the design of shear reinforcement cages, for example, are regarded as custom-made products. Johne & Groß GmbH, as a rebar steel bending company, is convinced of the use of non-metallic reinforcement in structural concrete construction. The new kind of reinforcement will change concrete construction, and new products will be created. Since the beginning of 2021, Johne & Groß GmbH has been offering the non-metallic, shaped reinforcement required for this purpose and is developing it continuously. In addition to the production of shaped reinforcement, Johne & Groß GmbH offers a full package consisting of consultation, building component dimensioning as well as planning, manufacturing and supply of reinforcement. The range of services is addressed to precast concrete producers and construction companies, interested in environmentally-friendly and innovative reinforcement technologies.

In a standardized process, planar reinforcement products are transformed into three-dimensional elements and structures in a quick and cost-efficient way. Above all, reinforcement grids made of carbon fibers and glass fibers are used for this purpose at present. The manufacture of standard reinforcement shapes such as L-shaped as well as U- and Z-shaped profiles made of thermoplastic-bonded, non-metallic reinforcement grids could be implemented in current projects for numerous concrete components. Johne & Groß GmbH is currently developing a technology for forming thermoplastic, non-metallic carbon reinforcement bars for offering them in addition to grid-shaped reinforcement in the future. Furthermore, the lamination of non-impregnated carbon reinforcement grids with EP resin provides the possibility to realize freeform reinforcement. In this way, concrete components with spatially curved surfaces, for example, can be reinforced in an accurately fitting and load-adapted way.
