Results of recent research

Simplified rules for masonry structures in German ­earthquake regions –

The presentation is related to recent tendencies and strategies in the European and German code development. In addition to the remarkable modifications in the fields of seismic hazard and description of seismic action, options and chances for the implementation of simplified design concepts are displayed. The focus is given to experience- and performance-based approaches and the required database for deriving minimum requirements for construction rules which could avoid demanding analytical design procedures.
