On September 11, 2024, a bridge section of the Carola Bridge in Dresden collapsed - a Sennebogen 870E demolition machine was then used to bring down the two remaining bridge sections in a controlled manner. After the collapsed section of the bridge had been removed, two excavators began to dismantle the road surfaces and roadway slabs of the remaining bridge sections. Prior to this, a fall bed of gravel had been created in the Elbe to safely catch falling debris. Over the course of the day, the two remaining bridge sections fell one after the other onto the prepared ballast bed in a controlled manner. A total of ten excavators then dismantled the debris, which was then transported away by truck and tractor.

EAG-Berthold takes over demolition work in Dresden

Schlüter's customer EAG-Berthold from Colditz rented the Sennebogen 870E Demolition and an NPK GH-15 hydraulic breaker from Schlüter-RENT for the demolition of the Carola Bridge. Founded in 2015, the company specializes in earthworks and demolition work and already has experience in bridge demolition.

Efficient demolition with the Sennebogen 870E

A longfront demolition machine was used for the current project, which more than met the high requirements with an operating weight of 117 tons and a reach of up to 36 meters. Thanks to the elevating and tilting cab, the machine operator has an excellent view of what is happening and the area around the bridge at all times. Another highlight of the 870E Demolition is the telescopic undercarriage, which ensures both a narrow transport width and a high level of stability during operation.

Powerful addition: GH-15 hydraulic breaker for precise demolition

EAG-Berthold also rented the GH-15 hydraulic breaker from the manufacturer NPK from Schlüter-RENT for efficient demolition. The nitrogen gas-operated piston generates constant and maximum energy per blow. The integrated shock absorber system reduces vibrations, increases operating comfort and at the same time protects the machine, thereby extending the service life of the excavator. Thanks to the quick and easy chisel change, the GH-15 can be flexibly adapted to different tasks. For this application, the hydraulic breaker was the ideal complement to the 870E Demolition - powerful, efficient and reliable.

Coordination and support on site

EAG-Berthold was supported by the RENT team from Elxleben, where Uwe Wehling was the customer's contact person. Fitters from the customer service team in Radeburg also assisted with the assembly of the Sennebogen 870E - a great collaboration between the two branches.
