New concrete release agent Ortolan for universal use

MC-Bauchemie has expanded its Ortolan product range with a new, solvent-free concrete release agent. Ortolan Classic 712 meets high environmental standards, is biodegradable and is suitable for both absorbent and non-absorbent formwork. It ensures pore-free surfaces as well as high-quality fair-faced concretes and can be used universally in the precast plant.

Excellent separating effect and high-quality exposed concrete surfaces

Ortolan Classic 712 consists of a mixture of high-quality distilled mineral oils and an additive composition. This composition ensures an excellent chemical-physical separating effect. Thus, with a particularly economical application, combined with a perfectly cleaned formwork and a coordinated concrete composition, high-quality to excellent concrete looks are possible. Ortolan Classic 712 is also easy to use and environmentally friendly, as the product is easy to spray, has a low odour and is quickly biodegradable. The concrete release agent is suitable for both absorbent and non-absorbent formwork types. This allows universal usage, whether on smooth, wood-coated formwork, steel formwork or even absorbent timber-board formwork. It can also be applied to horizontal and vertical formwork surfaces, relatively independently of the weather. Ortolan Classic 712 enables good deaeration of the concrete at the contact layer to the formwork and thus ensures non-porous surfaces and high-quality exposed concretes of classes SB 3 and SB 4.

Highest demands on environmental compatibility

In the development of Ortolan Classic 712, MC-Bauchemie placed the highest demands on environmental compatibility. The solvent-free concrete release agent achieves quality level 1 according to the DGNB criteria matrix ENV 1.2 „Risks for the local environment“. It fulfils the applicable test criteria according to OECD 301 F with a degradation rate of 70% after 28 days and is accordingly quickly biodegradable. The water hazard class corresponds to WGK 1 – slightly hazardous to water. In addition, Ortolan Classic 712 is not labelled as a hazardous material and can be transported without the otherwise necessary safety measures.

With its environmental compatibility, simple processing and excellent results in formwork removal and concrete appearance, the new concrete release agent from MC-Bauchemie offers users universal and safe use both in the precast plant.
