Josef Klösters Kies & Beton GmbH, headquartered in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Kempen, is operating in the field of extraction, production and distribution of sand and gravel, ready-mixed concrete and mortar as well as in the building materials trade. As the residual water could not be used completely at the Wachtendonk factory of Klösters, the company placed an order for the delivery of a chamber filter press with Bibko Umwelttechnik und Beratung GmbH. For the professional clarification of excess residual water of high density, they took different solutions into consideration during several project discussions and finally decided to supplement the already existing Bibko recycling system for residual concrete by a chamber filter press.
If now an increased water level or increased density is measured in the residual water tank, recycling/residual water is automatically fed to the downstream chamber filter press immediately. Manual operation is no longer necessary, due to an automated process. The residual water is pumped by means of an adequate air-operated diaphragm pump into the chamber filter press for clarification. The still pumpable sludge is fed to the chamber filter press by means of an air-operated diaphragm pump using increased pressure. This press is compacting the sludge with the aid of very high pressure. About 200 bar are used to press the water content through filter clothes out of the sludge. The remaining sludge is collected in the press until it is filled completely. Depending on the version, the press then opens automatically.
Press in various versions
The chamber filter presses can be offered in different sizes and versions. It has to be considered that chamber filter presses are available on the market with manual and automatic sludge discharge. A vibration device ensures the proper elimination of all sludge cakes from the filter plates. Consequently, manual checking is no longer necessary, and the press can operate without any corresponding control. As an option, the chamber filter press can be accommodated in a weather-proof casing conceived and manufactured by Bibko. The actual casing is fitted with appropriate polyurethane foam panels, so as to enable a smooth working process also during winter months.
