First Hess AAC autoclaved aerated concrete plant commissioned

In Turkey, the NUH group of companies is a well-known player in the building materials industry, achieving annual sales of approx. 560 million USD (2007). When the company was established back in 1966, NUH had been focused on the production of cement. In the following years, production lines for ready-mixed concrete, lime, aerated concrete and gravel were added. Today, the group also operates its own power plants and an associated seaport. For the manufacture of the autoclaved aerated concrete elements, a Hess AAC production line has recently been put into service. The plant’s production capacity amounts to approx. 400,000 m3 per year. This production line replaces an old plant.

Situated about 60 km east of Istanbul, in Hereke, which belongs to the Asian part of Turkey, the huge NUH group site extends directly at the Sea of Marmara. In this mountainous area, the group operates a large number of plants, including a facility producing approx. 4.5 million tons of clincer per year. The group’s ready-mixed concrete plants have been set up on various sites around Istanbul. With 25 plants supplying an annual volume of about 5 million m3 of concrete, NUH Beton A.S. is one of the largest producers in the Istanbul area.
