The Fachvereinigung Deutscher Betonfertigteilbau e.V. (FDB) in cooperation with AWZ Bau in Kreuztal-Fellinghausen (AWZ Bau gGmbH) continues to promote the qualification of skilled workers for manufacturing plants. Next year, they will once again be offering their proven further training programmes for precast concrete experts and precast concrete installers. The two courses enable participants to specifically expand their existing skills and optimally position themselves for the future in the precast industry.

The dates and course times are:

Precast concrete expert:

09.02. - 20.02.2026 // 90 teaching hours

Precast concrete installer:

Module A: 19 January – 23 January 2026 // 40 teaching hours

Module B: 26 January – 30 January 2026 // 40 teaching hours

Module C: 2–6 February 2026 // 40 teaching hours

What makes these courses so special?

Graduates from previous years praise the diverse course topics, the collegial exchange of information and the strong practical relevance of the factory tours. Thinking outside the box has never hurt anyone: the factory tours allow participants to experience what they have learned in practice and gain in-depth insights into the processes of various precast factories – from production to assembly.

Particular praise is given to the excellent conditions and organisation provided by AWZ Bau.

The successful concept developed by FDB and AWZ Bau for both courses has proven itself over the years. The FDB takes the lead in selecting the topics. The speakers are experts from FDB member companies, lecturers from AWZ Bau, and research assistants and professors from the University of Siegen. The practical relevance is emphasised with various workshops and tours of precast concrete plants in the region.

Who are the courses aimed at?

The ‘Precast Concrete Expert’ course is open to foremen in building construction or skilled workers in precast concrete plants or assembly.

Although basic knowledge of concrete construction is beneficial for the precast concrete assembler course, it is not a prerequisite. For career changers from other skilled trades, this course is the perfect start in the field of precast concrete assembly.

It is important that both newcomers and career changers enjoy assembly work and taking on responsibility.

The cost of both courses includes breakfast, lunch and conference drinks. Both courses are held in German, and German language skills at level C1 of the European Framework of Reference are recommended.

Details of the ‘Precast Concrete Expert’ course:

In two weeks of full-time instruction, specific know-how from precast concrete plants is passed on to participants in 90 teaching units spread over 10 days. The course always focuses on practical relevance (including workshops and factory tours – in this course at two local precast concrete plants) – whether in the structural engineering part with the knowledge modules of work preparation, building construction, production/manufacturing, storage and transport of precast concrete elements, foundations/building ground, surveying, assembly techniques, acceptance and quality assurance, sources of error, causes of damage and concrete technology, or for the course content on legal issues, risk analysis, occupational safety, environmental protection and accident prevention, construction site safety in local and private areas, transport and traffic regulations, and personal development through improved leadership and communication skills. Leadership is an important part of the course.

Details of the ‘Precast Concrete Installer’ course:

The ABCs of precast concrete installation – with the new concept, three modules A, B and C are offered on three consecutive weeks; each module can be booked individually, and each of the three modules includes a practical component.

For career changers or employees who want to change jobs within the company, this is exactly the right course, opening up many opportunities for future-oriented professional development.
