Comprehensive expertise from professionals at precast concrete plants and valuable specialized knowledge from instructors at the Construction Training and Continuing Education Center (AWZ Bau gGmbH) and learn through hands-on experience – this is possible by participating in the nationwide unique continuing education programs for precast concrete experts and precast concrete installers at AWZ Bau in Kreuztal-Fellinghausen. In collaboration with the Fachvereinigung Deutscher Betonfertigteilbau e.V. (FDB), the course concept was developed many years ago and has been continuously adapted to the latest state of the art. To this day, the two organizations design these two courses at a consistently high level and in close coordination with one another. And it continues: The dates for 2027 have already been set.
Precast Concrete Expert Course
In February 2026, 26 employees from 18 precast concrete plants participated in the 14-day Precast Concrete Expert course at AWZ Bau. All participants successfully passed the final exam. This customized training program enables them to take on a wide range of technical and, in some cases, managerial tasks within their companies, demonstrating practical and interpersonal skills across multiple areas of a precast concrete plant.
Two plant tours rounded out the course from February 9, 2026, to February 20, 2026: FDB member companies Runkel Fertigteilbau GmbH and Otto Quast Fertigbau Lindenberg opened their factory gates and provided course participants with in-depth insights into their operational and production processes.
The instructors were able to present course content – including practical topics and detailed handouts covering the diverse curriculum – to a group that was already technically strong and highly interested, working closely with them.
As in previous years, the course material was once again extensive, leading participants to wish they had more time for the program. Overall, they highly value this specialized continuing education opportunity.
The course to become a precast concrete expert attracts participants from all over Germany to the Siegerland region. It comprises 90 class hours, and in addition to the respective technical focal points, the curriculum also includes topics such as law, organization, and leadership. The approximately 15 instructors from the construction industry impart their specialized knowledge to the course participants in preparation for their future roles.
Precast Concrete Installer Course Launched with a New Concept
Another course offered by AWZ Bau in collaboration with the FDB qualifies participants as “Precast Concrete Installers”; it was redesigned based on a survey of participants from recent years. In three modules of 40 class hours each, the course covers topics such as risk analysis, preparing bids, reading plans, surveying, building materials science, joining techniques, and installation through practical exercises.
Each module can be booked individually. In February 2026, for example, out of the three modules offered in the precast concrete assembly technician course, Module C was attended by 10 participants from February 2, 2026, to February 6, 2026. Modules A and B had to be canceled due to low enrollment. In Module C, under the heading “From Theory to Practice,” participants examined securing techniques, the setup of lifting equipment, types of components and their installation, grouting methods, common installation errors, soft skills and teamwork, installation scheduling, surveying, and transport logistics. Lifting equipment, specialized tools, machines, and installation aids were demonstrated, and their functions were explained. During the plant tour of the construction company Günther GmbH & Co. KG, the practical session involved the assembly of a sample support with a molded foundation. All examinees passed the final exam for Module C and expressly praised the instructors for their comprehensive answers to the many questions.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the FDB member companies for their support of these two important qualification courses, which benefit the entire industry.
Feedback from course participants on the two courses
The professional exchange with colleagues was once again the highlight for all course participants this year. A clear look behind the scenes sets this course apart from others.
The warm welcome, the general conditions, and the professional organization by AWZ Bau were expressly praised.
Diverse course topics, intensive collegial exchange of information, and varied knowledge transfer by different instructors –these are the hallmarks of the two qualification programs offered by FDB and AWZ Bau, which look back with pride on many years of knowledge transfer.
New Dates for 2027
FDB and AWZ Bau intend to continue providing qualified and targeted training for personnel at manufacturing plants.
The dates for 2027 have been set – registration via the AWZ Bau website is now open.
