Preconceived and prefabricated: pioneering systems for resource-efficient construction

Systems for residential construction, solutions for façades and concepts for buildings in logistics and production: Brüninghoff is working on the further development of industrially prefabricated and resource-efficient construction in these areas of application. As a system provider that integrates digital tools, the company is especially improving interface management in the complex construction process.

Brüninghoff pursues a systematic approach to serial and hybrid construction, one that is based on digital planning methods such as BIM. By the targeted use of industrial prefabrication, construction processes in residential and commercial construction are optimized in terms of time, costs, and process reliability. Standardized production enables significant reduction in construction time and ensures great planning and cost transparency across all project phases.

Prefabrication as a quality feature

Modern machines in concrete plants work with high precision and speed. This enables the use of materials in accordance with the specific requirements and supports sustainable and resource-efficient construction. At the same time, regular quality control ensures consistent adherence to high quality standards. Likewise, automated processes mitigate the effects of the shortage of skilled workers. Thanks to prefabrication, individual components are turned into building elements that offer more functions, properties, and possibilities. Weather-protected production enhances quality and significantly shortens the construction process on the building site. In this context, serial construction readily becomes one of the key solutions for creating urgently needed living space. The use of prefabricated elements also enables the standardization, acceleration, and greater cost-efficiency of renovation processes. Fast and clean assembly not only shortens construction times, but also minimizes disturbance.

Digital planning

For Brüninghoff, integral and digital planning is one essential aspect in the planning and implementation process. Building Information Modeling (BIM) bundles all project-relevant information in a digital model, which reveals possible collisions at an early stage. This significantly improves interface management and contributes to smooth communication among the various project participants. For investors, this means greater transparency and comprehensibility of project development; in addition, it is less susceptible to delays and budget overruns. Similarly, digital data provide the basis for mechanical production, serve as data base for material registers and also represent the final step for configuring projects to satisfy circular-economy issues.

Demountable elements

Brüninghoff is strongly committed to developing recyclable solutions that render the life cycle of buildings sustainable. One example of this is the optimized, completely demountable timber-concrete composite floor (TCC). It is possible to either completely reuse the precast elements after their useful life, or to separate and recycle the timber and concrete materials by type. This not only conserves resources but also achieves economic benefits by reducing the life cycle costs of buildings and improving their environmental balance. At the headquarters of Sesotec, an internationally active plant-systems developer and manufacturer of foreign-object detection and sorting systems, Brüninghoff has implemented this resource-saving use of materials in the form of TCC floors in floor slab elements. This has significantly improved the separability of the structurally necessary grouting joints between the individual floor slab elements. This means that the floor slab elements can now be separated from each other more easily and reused with very little effort. In a second step, timber and concrete can also be separated by type and thus recycled more efficiently. This closes the material cycle.
