New Isokorb XT/T Type Q for supported balconies and
recessed balconies

Schöck Bauteile GmbH presents an innovative solution for the thermal separation of concrete building components, namely the new generation of the load-bearing thermal insulation elements – Isokorb XT/T type Q 7.0 and type Q-P 7.0. The further development impresses with a higher load-bearing capacity, an optimized thermal insulation and maximum safety. The higher shear resistance allows for the realization of larger and more slender balcony designs. Thus, Schöck is setting new standards as far as planning of balconies is concerned.

The building component specialist Schöck continues to develop the well-proven Isokorb family and presents with the Isokorb XT/T type Q 7.0 and type Q-P 7.0 elements a new generation for the connection of supported balconies and recessed balconies. The new products combine highest performance with simple handling on the construction site and greater freedom in planning for structural engineers and architects.

Larger and more slender balconies through optimized load-bearing capacity

The new generation of Isokorb XT/T type Q and Q-P elements offer structural engineers and architects new possibilities: A shear resistance being up to 25 % higher allows for realizing greater and more slender balcony designs. Thanks to a new, approved design approach for shear bars and the improved shear bar geometry of the new thermal insulation element, it is possible to realize a smaller floor thickness at a higher load-bearing capacity. This creates new latitude regarding architectural design when planning individual balcony solutions – even for corner balconies.

The symmetrical set-up, moreover, enables a uniform load-bearing capacity concept across all element lengths (250, 500 and 1,000 mm). This simplifies planning and increases the flexibility in execution.

Optimized thermal insulation and fire protection design

Using the Isokorb XT/T type Q and type Q-P elements, the highest energy-related standards are met along the entire line of connection and the energy efficiency is improved by up to 25 percent. While the requirements of REI120 fire resistance classification are also met, guaranteeing a maximum degree of safety. In this way, the new Isokorb XT/T type Q offers a decisive advantage for sustainable and forward-looking construction projects.

Easy and efficient installation

The installation of Isokorb XT/T type Q and type Q-P elements has been simplified considerably: The shorter anchorage length of the bars and pressure-bearing steel elements facilitate installation and shorten construction time. The rugged, non-protruding fire protection channel ensures safe and simple handling on the construction site. The variable concrete cover allows a collision-free connection in the corners.

The continuous divisibility of the 1,000 mm long elements featuring a consistent load-bearing capacity is particularly advantageous: The lengths of 250, 500 and 1,000 mm are exactly adapted to each other, allowing for simple combination and a product selection in accordance with the demand – for maximum flexibility in project planning and a cost-effective construction process.

Smart dimensioning

Isokorb XT/T type Q will be integrated into the Schöck Scalix design software and will be available as from the next software release. This guarantees reliable and efficient planning. The Scalix web-based tool supports the calculation of thermal insulation elements and shear force dowels for the connection of balconies, parapets and balustrades made of reinforced concrete – perfectly adapted to the requirements of modern construction projects.
