XL 170 big box with 68 mm opening for installation

The Waldkraiburg-based company, Primo GmbH, presented their latest XL 170 luminaire and electrical boxes featuring an opening for installation with a diameter of 68 mm at the 2017 eltefa trade fair held in Stuttgart. The box is suited for ceiling and wall mounting of LED luminaires, halogen spotlights or loudspeakers into cast-in-situ concrete without tools in a time-saving way.

For ceiling mounting into cast-in-situ concrete, the 68 mm cover is fixed with nails to the formwork first. Then, the upper part of the plastic box as well as the 22 cm long transformer tunnel, as an option, are plugged in. Following this, the installation conduits of type M20 or M25 can be inserted and are fixed by means of sliders. This so-called quick fix technique ensures a safe strain relief of the conduits, an electrical box absolutely resistant against ingress of concrete and fast mounting. Subsequent work or cutting of the conduits are not necessary. In the next step, the steel reinforcement is inserted and concrete is placed. Afterwards, just the 68 mm cover of the big box has to be driven in by a hammer from the bottom. Now, it is possible to fix the downlights or other built-in devices and put them into operation.

Wall mounting is done correspondingly: However, for this purpose, the blades for fixing the steel reinforcement are absolutely necessary. Place the concrete, open the cover with the aid of a hammer, fix the built-in devices, and that‘s it!
