Stockschläder opts for new mixer in core concrete production

The D23 which was presented to the trade public at Bauma 2016 is the latest generation of the D series mixers which have a horizontal mixing pan and rotor. In-formation on initial use of the mixer in prefab element production was made available in November 2016. Another D23 is now part of the core concrete production line at Jakob Stockschläder GmbH & Co. KG which trades under the name Jasto Baustoffwerke.

Cost-effective mixing systems

The company has been making pumice lightweight concrete blocks since 1949. In 2003, Jasto expanded its portfolio of concrete elements for gardening and landscaping. In order to support cost-efficient production of even larger volumes of high-grade concrete paving stones, fencing, stair steps and other concrete elements, Jasto has installed two additional mixers: a 900 liter RV16 mixer for facing concrete and a 3,000 liter D23 mixer for core concrete. Due to the inherent characteristics of their systems, other mixer producers can supply machines at lower prices. However, Jasto Baustoffwerke opted for Eirich.

Type R mixers have an inclined mixing pan and are available with capacities up to 3,000 liters. Only one mixing tool, called the rotor, is needed on these machines which many manufacturers, both large and small, have been using for many years in facing concrete preparation. Other mixing systems are often used for core concrete. However, greater demands are being placed on the uniformity and homogeneity of core concrete. That is why Jasto Baustoffwerke decided to use Eirich mixing equipment for core concrete as well.

D23 series mixers with net capacities of 1,500, 2,250 and 3,000 liters were developed to make cost-effective, economically-priced mixing systems which offer the proven advantages of Eirich technology available to producers of concrete, sand-lime brick and glass batch. They are the latest generation of Eirich‘s D-series mixers with horizontal mixing pan and rotor. These machines have built up an excellent reputation since the 1960 s, particularly in the concrete industry. They continue to deliver outstanding performance in that sector, often right from initial installation.

Short mixing times and homogeneous mixtures

As was the case with earlier D-series mixers, a rotating mixing pan on the D23 series transports the material to the mixing tools. A rotating mixing star and high-performance star-type rotor ensure short mixing times and homogeneous mixtures. Actual mixing is performed by the rotor tool. The speed of the tool can be adjusted for the particular mixing operation. Course mixing is performed by the mixing star which together with the bottom/wall scraper speeds up discharge. The mixing pan runs at a significantly higher speed compared to earlier D-type mixers. The D23 will operate with frequency converters. The mixing pan, mixing star and rotor can be regulated independently of each other.

A number of additional options are available for the D23 including moisture sensing with a bottom-mounted probe, an automatic cleaning feature (high-pressure jet which can be combined with water dosing), automatic central lubrication, frequency converters and condition monitoring for the drives and bearings. The mixer outputs the full set of parameters needed by the higher-level control systems.

Live production on the new mixing system will start at Jasto Baustoffwerke in the spring of 2017, further enhancing the competitiveness of this family-managed company.
