Special cement for concrete pavers and concrete products

Whether modern, high-quality elegance or pragmatic functionality: Concrete paving blocks and concrete products have proven themselves in terms of landscaping of outdoor facilities for decades – due to the particular characteristics of the products. In order to make optimum use of the potential of pavements or design elements made of concrete, Opterra GmbH has developed a new special cement with Optastone meant for this particular field of application.

Concrete pavers and concrete products for outdoor applications are exposed to many different loads and wear. This also includes the mere functional requirements apart from atmospheric influences. The permanent bearing capacity of concrete, a high degree of tightness and good surface texture turn concrete into a durable and resistant building material.

The Optastone special cement supports the mentioned characteristics of concrete sustainably. Due to its properties Optastone ensures an excellent compaction of concrete as well as a superior surface texture. Optastone meets the requirements of Portland slag cement CEM II/A-S 42.5 R in accordance with DIN EN 197-1. As bright cement, the product supports an homogenous and intensive coloring regarding the use of color pigments. In addition, the risk of discolorations, so-called efflorescence, on the concrete surface is reduced significantly. Contrary to conventional cement grades, Optastone features an optimum particle size distribution. This enables an even better compaction and more uniform surface texture.

Optastone is particularly suitable for the production of concrete pavers and concrete products made of earth-moist concrete. Moreover, it can be used for concrete, reinforced and prestressed concrete according to DIN EN 206 in conjunction with DIN 1045-2 as well as for concrete structures according to ZTV-ING.
