This year, the introduction of the structural engineering Eurocodes in Germany marks another step on a long path that began more than 50 years ago, with the ultimate objective of establishing the free movement of goods in Europe. On 25 March 1957, the then European Council signed the Treaty of Rome and adopted “actions which have as their object the establishment and functioning of the internal market“ (Article 95 of the Treaty of Rome).
