After 39 years in service, the parking structure City-Parkhaus in the German city of Limburg was in poor condition: Due to insufficient surface protection, the reinforced-concrete floors were badly damaged by freeze-thaw cycling and the surface-near reinforcement was corroded. The column feet were also contaminated with chloride.

The six-week renovation project started in June of 2011: A total of 11,000 m² of concrete surface were repaired, requiring – apart from 10 tons of reinforcing steel – 400 m³ of new concrete. Following preparation of the substrate on all horizontal surfaces, the Sika...
