On 12 November 2025, planners from architecture and engineering firms, manufacturers and construction companies will have the opportunity to learn about the great potential of precast concrete façades. The specialist seminar will take place at the new Nesseler Ideenwerke factory in Eschweiler-Weisweiler near Aachen.
The organisers, the Fachvereinigung Deutscher Betonfertigteilbau (FDB) and the InformationsZentrum Beton (IZB), are inviting guests to the fifth in a series of events entitled ‘Modern concrete façades – sustainable, durable and multifunctional’ – including a factory tour.
Multifaceted requirements
The requirements for façade elements have become more multifaceted in recent years. In addition to the usual quality features such as functionality, cost-effectiveness and aesthetics, additional properties are in demand and necessary. In particular, climate protection and resource conservation are becoming increasingly important. Modern precast concrete façades meet these challenges: material-efficient and innovative designs, reduction of the carbon footprint, durability of the material, precise prefabrication, short construction times and the use of recycled materials – precast concrete façades can meet all these requirements.
Technical presentations from practice
In the façade seminar, these key topics will be addressed in seven presentations by experts from FDB member companies. Communication breaks are scheduled between the presentations to allow questions to be answered immediately.
An accompanying trade exhibition by FDB supporting members will provide information about the products of the supplier industry that contribute to sustainable and climate-friendly construction, particularly precast concrete façades.
The lecture topics range from sustainable façade solutions for industrial construction to office system buildings with sandwich façades, in which windows, sun protection and installations are factory-fitted, to tips on tendering, manufacturing and protecting exposed and architectural concrete façades. The technical features of planning architectural concrete façades will also be discussed.
One presentation from the world of concrete technology and the composition of precast concrete façades will focus on sustainable and CO2 -reduced concretes, while another presentation will introduce the use of carbon concrete in sandwich façades.
The fact that architectural concrete can be resource-efficient is explained using examples, current research projects, new EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) and interesting combination options.
Recognised continuing education
The cost of the façade seminar is €119.00 including VAT. It is recognised as continuing education. The conference documents will be made available in advance as a handout for download on the IZB website www.beton.org, where you will also find further information on the conference programme and the link to register: https://bit.ly/47ryKnw
