Preliminary Report: 12th Colloquium on Drinking Water Storage in Münster August 28, 2026 Figure: Rita Jacobs/Professional Association for the Protection and Maintenance of Drinking Water Tanks e. V. On September 30, 2026, the 12th Colloquium on Drinking Water Storage, organized by the S.I.T.W. Professional Association, will take place in Münster. The event will focus on current developments in the planning, construction, and maintenance of drinking water systems, as well as new technical and regulatory requirements.
The requirements for the safe storage and distribution of drinking water are constantly evolving. New legal requirements, revised technical regulations, and increasing demands regarding hygiene, material use, and quality assurance present new challenges for operators, planners, and contractors.
DVGW W 300 and New Material Requirements
A key focus of the colloquium is the revision of the DVGW Worksheet W 300. Dr.-Ing. Melanie Merkel, bsm² PartGmbB, will provide an update on the current status of the revision and explain which changes will be relevant in the future for the planning, construction, and maintenance of drinking water facilities. Juliane Mohaupt from the Federal Environment Agency will discuss future requirements for materials that come into contact with drinking water and their implications for the use of products on construction sites and during renovation projects.
Another topic is the handling of contaminant levels in existing drinking water facilities. Dr. rer. nat. Petra Arens from the Neuwied Materials Testing and Research Institute will provide guidance on identifying and assessing such contaminant levels. The presentation by Dipl.-Ing. Jan Rassek of w+s bau-instandsetzung focuses on quality assurance in the repair of drinking water facilities in accordance with DVGW W 300-4.
Case Studies on Construction and Renovation
Case studies round out the program: Jan Reißel and Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Huth from agc wasser will discuss specific challenges in the planning and construction of drinking water storage tanks. The structural and technical renovation of the Wittefeld water treatment plant is the focus of another presentation. In addition, possibilities for digital building assessment, along with their practical benefits and risks, will be presented.
The 12th Colloquium on Drinking Water Storage will take place at the Atlantic Hotel in Münster. An accompanying trade exhibition will provide information on products, product developments, and services related to concrete repair.
