Custom machinery manufacturer Ematec is launching the HS 850 hybrid heavy-duty crane together with engineering firm Teco. The crane is designed for lifting and positioning heavy machinery and system components in confined working areas.

With a load moment of up to 850 tm and a five-stage telescopic articulated boom, it is intended in particular for installation and assembly work in production halls.

The HS 850 has a width of 2,420 mm and a transport height of 2,550 mm. According to the companies, this allows it to pass through standard hall doors and be transported by road on a conventional low-loader. The crane was developed by Teco after a prototype had first been designed for W. Biedenbach GmbH. Ematec is now responsible for production, worldwide marketing and service.

Electric drive for indoor use

The hydraulic variable-displacement pumps of the HS 850 are electrically driven. The electric motors are powered by an installed high-voltage battery, which can be charged via a stationary 380 V supply at 63 A, 32 A or 16 A. Alternatively, a detachable Power Pack with combustion engine and generator can be used. The Power Pack can also serve as an emergency generator.

The crane is operated by radio remote control. Integrated load-moment monitoring is designed to prevent overloading. Depending on the application and load weight, users can select different programmes with optimised outreach for the individual telescopic sections.

Designed for confined working areas

In addition to production halls, Ematec lists battery storage systems, track and railway construction and tunnel facilities as possible fields of application. For uneven terrain, self-propelled all-terrain carriers can be used. For production halls and level, firm ground, a chassis with all-wheel steering and its own drive is available.

The HS 850 is loaded and unloaded using its integrated outriggers. The outrigger beams can be telescoped from 6,000 to 10,000 mm. A range of accessories is available for different lifting tasks, including a rope winch with sheave head, a heavy-duty tip with load hook and sheave head, and a jib extension.
