Maba Fertigteilindustrie GmbH at its headquarters in Wöllersdorf-Steinabrückl celebrated its 100th anniversary. Over 200 guests from the worlds of politics, business and infrastructure - including the mayors of Wöllersdorf, Wiener Neustadt and Sollenau - congratulated the company in person and praised Maba as a driving force for Austria's infrastructure.

From foundation to market leader

Founded in 1925 as “Österreichische Maba-Unternehmung Bartels & Schlarbaum”, the name Maba combines the initials of the electrical pioneer Martin Bartels and the building contractor brothers Schlarbaum. The company started with five employees and an electrically powered concrete mixer in the former fireworks factory in Wöllersdorf. Innovations such as reinforced concrete poles, Purator sewage treatment plants and Stelcon products shaped the expansion of the local infrastructure.

Today, with five locations and around 600 employees, Maba is the market leader and partner for construction, rail, tunnel and sustainable infrastructure projects throughout Austria, such as the Koralm Tunnel, the Vienna subway U2xU5 and the Wiental Canal. Innovations such as recycled concrete and energy-efficient precast elements make MABA a pioneer in sustainable construction.

Ceremony and award

At the ceremony, guests were given exclusive insights into modern precast production. The highlights included short videos about the history of Maba and the apprentices building creative concrete decorations (e.g. “Eternal Candle”). Afterwards, the management hosted a gala dinner.

Maba was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor by Johannes Schedlbauer, Director of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, for its services to the Lower Austrian economy.

Comments on the anniversary

In addition to several messages of greeting, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Governor of Lower Austria, also conveyed her congratulations:

"100 years of Maba - precast concrete parts of the highest quality, combined with tradition, high-tech and, above all, a great deal of know-how that has been acquired. Of course, this requires competent, reliable employees - and that's exactly what Maba has. Because the employees are the reason for Maba's success story."

Maba Managing Directors Nageler and Buschmüller also emphasized:

“We have been building Austria's infrastructure for 100 years - and will remain a strong and reliable partner for the next 100 years.”
