The AHE Group has been certified for the first time under the international CSC standard, receiving one Platinum and two Gold certifications. The certifications cover the areas of interlocking pavers, Schaumburger Weserkies, and ready-mix concrete.

According to the company, AHE was the first concrete products plant in Germany to achieve the highest CSC certification level, Platinum, in the interlocking pavers sector. This achievement is based, among other things, on the development of CO₂-neutral concrete products using c-ton technology.

The AHE Schaumburger Weserkies and AHE Ready-Mix Concrete divisions were each certified with Gold.

Sustainability Strategy as the Foundation

The certifications are based on a sustainability strategy developed over several years. According to the company, this includes, among other things, the resource-efficient extraction of mineral building materials, measures to protect biodiversity, the use of 100% green electricity, short transport routes, and the electrification of processes and facilities.

In the interlocking pavers division, CO₂-neutral concrete products were also developed through the creation and implementation of c-ton technology. According to the company, this is achieved without external offsetting.

“We want to demonstrate that sustainable building material production is possible at a high level even in small and medium-sized enterprises,” said Sascha Wagener, Managing Director of the AHE Group. “The CSC certification not only confirms our consistent commitment to further development but also our commitment to taking responsibility throughout the entire value chain.”

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) is an international certification system for the concrete, cement, and aggregate industries. Companies and their value chains are evaluated based on environmental, social, and economic criteria, as well as in the areas of management and production. The goal is to make sustainable business practices in the supply chain transparent and traceable. The system comprises four certification levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

CSC certifications are recognized in sustainability rating systems for buildings and can support construction projects in obtaining sustainability certifications.

The AHE Group is a medium-sized family-owned business based in Rinteln on the Weser River. For more than 60 years, the company has been engaged in the extraction of mineral raw materials and their processing into products for road construction, landscaping, and gardening.
