(57) A „low-carbon“ concrete formulation exhibiting significant reduction in carbon dioxide emission without compromising the mechanical strength of the concrete product is provided herewith, together with a method of preparing concrete paving blocks with reduced carbon dioxide emission, with specific curing processes to further enhance the performance of the concrete paving blocks. The concrete paving blocks prepared and cured with the present formulation and method display negative carbon dioxide emission, while their mechanical strengths are comparable to that of ordinary concrete blocks. Various concrete block preparation procedures and curing conditions can be applied to fine-tune and enhance the mechanical strengths and carbon dioxide uptake capabilities of the concrete blocks.
