MC-BAUCHEMIE

Highly effective water repellent for all types of concrete surfaces

With Emcephob L pro, MC-Bauchemie has expanded its portfolio of water-repellent treatments with a new product. It can be applied to various concrete surfaces and, thanks to its highly water-repellent effect, ensures that the concrete retains a fresh, new appearance for a long time.

Emcephob L pro is suitable for waterproofing concrete, exposed concrete, and architectural concrete. It can also be applied to cosmetically treated concrete—for example, after concrete retouching with Repacryl or treatment with the concrete cosmetic fillers Emcefix or Nafuquick.

The best water-repellent effect is achieved when Emcephob L pro is applied generously and in a flooding manner to dry, highly absorbent substrates. The older and drier the concrete, the higher its absorption capacity. With fresh concrete, therefore, special care must be taken to ensure that the residual moisture content does not exceed 4%. Concrete substrates with higher residual moisture content have significantly reduced absorbency. This leads to a reduced water-repellent effect, causing the concrete to not only appear visibly saturated when it rains but also to lack sufficient protection against water absorption.

Versatile application

The aqueous concrete water-repellent treatment reduces capillary water absorption and creates a pronounced beading effect. Under dry conditions, the product is invisible on the concrete, but demonstrates its strong water-repellent effect when it rains. Concrete treated with Emcephob L pro also has increased resistance to frost and de-icing salt. Efflorescence and soiling are effectively reduced. Another benefit for health and the environment: Emcephob L pro is free of solvents and plasticizers.

The water-repellent treatment is ready-to-use and can be applied directly from the container. No time-consuming preparation or mixing of additional components is required. Emcephob L pro is applied using a roller and/or spray method. Standard tools such as short-pile rollers and the MC special sprayer, which enables an even and generous application of the material, are suitable for application.

In practice, a cross-hatch application pattern has proven effective. This is done first from bottom to top to avoid streaks, and then across from left to right. This technique ensures that the concrete surface is completely wetted and that the water-repellent treatment can penetrate deeply and evenly into the substrate. This method of application contributes significantly to optimal and long-lasting protection.

Tested and high-performance

Emcephob L pro meets current technical standards and is tested as a water-repellent treatment in accordance with EN 1504-2—for principles 1, 2, and 8, as well as methods 1.1, 2.1, and 8.1. Furthermore, Emcephob L pro meets the requirements for use in sustainable construction. In the DGNB building certification system, the product is assigned to the highest quality level 4 of the DGNB criteria matrix ENV 1.2 “Risks to the local environment.”
