Upstairs on concrete treads

Elegant staircase with single stringer

A staircase made of concrete leads visitors and employees of the Lafarge factory in Wössingen/Germany up to the first floor of the new administration building. The staircase was manufactured with a self-compacting, high-strength concrete on the basis of the special cement Optacolor®.

The staircase welcomes the visitors in the entrance lounge of the new building. It looks precious, simple and elegant leading up to the first floor in a straight line. The flight of stairs concerned is a staircase with single stringer at which the 20 concrete treads are mounted on a steel beam. The stair treads are two meters wide, 31 cm deep, nine centimeters thick and become narrower on the outside. All this together with the low thickness of the treads provide the staircase made of steel and concrete a kind of sophisticated aesthetics.
