On 22 and 23 September 2025, the Carbon Concrete Days will take place at the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden. The event is aimed at professionals in planning, architecture, engineering, the construction industry and public administration. At its core is the climate-friendly composite material carbon concrete, which offers particularly sustainable potential in construction thanks to material savings, durability and CO₂ reduction.

The aim of the event is to present current developments and practical solutions for resource-efficient construction, as well as urgently needed infrastructure refurbishment. In addition to technical expertise, the event also provides strategic orientation — for example, with regard to future tenders, funding programmes or sustainable procurement criteria.

Evening event with high-level panel discussion

A particular highlight is the evening event on 22 September: a panel discussion will explore current challenges in infrastructure and provide the audience with an opportunity to actively present their products and services afterwards. The discussion will be moderated by Nadine Lindner, renowned journalist and recipient of the 2024 Federal Press Conference Award.

The panel will include the following experts:

  • Arne Huhn, Head of the Civil Engineering | Bridge and Structural Engineering Department at the Berlin Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment

  • Dr.-Ing. Carl Richter, Head of the Structural Engineering Division at the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt)

  • Alexander Pawlik, Project Director of the Ausbaustrecke 38 (expansion route 38) at Deutsche Bahn

Together, they will provide insights into the current challenges and opportunities in bridge and infrastructure construction using carbon concrete.

Opening and technical programme on 23 September

The official opening on 23 September will be conducted by Dr. Frank Schladitz, spokesperson of the C³ association. This will be followed by two outstanding keynote presentations:

  • “Collapse of the Carolabrücke in Dresden – a tragic isolated case?” by Dr.-Ing. Gregor Schacht, Managing Director and Partner at MKP GmbH

  • “GFRP reinforcement over the past 20 years” by Dr.-Ing. André Weber, Head of Development, GFRP Reinforcement Division at Schöck Bauteile GmbH

Lecture Hall 1 will focus on general aspects of carbon concrete:

  • Applications of carbon concrete in building, civil and structural engineering

  • Carbon concrete construction as part of the circular economy

  • Individual elements and special applications

Lecture Hall 2 will be dedicated to bridge construction using carbon concrete:

  • Successful planning and implementation

  • Refurbishment, repair and strengthening

  • Modularity, serial production and improvements to environmental performance

Accompanying trade exhibition

A parallel trade exhibition featuring well-known manufacturers and suppliers will present the latest product developments. The event also offers valuable networking opportunities with decision-makers and a chance to establish new partnerships.
