Urban protection for the Berlin district:
Fabrino Sicorol F in action

On Heidestraße, in the heart of one of the German capital’s most dynamic development areas, a facade system from Fabrino is being used in the Berlin Quarter. Over 21,000 square meters, Sicorol F provides surface protection and combines design requirements with technical functions.

Where urban architecture meets sophisticated design, the choice of materials is crucial. In the Berlin Quarter, Fabrino’s Sicorol F fulfills this role: As a surface protection system, it shields the concrete facades from environmental influences and helps preserve their appearance. The facade surfaces come in two finishes: half sandblasted, half formwork-smooth. This materiality requires a solution that protects without altering the architectural expression. Sicorol F offers a uniform, transparent finish that preserves the surface’s texture while protecting it from weathering and soiling.

Preserving aesthetics and precise application

With exposed concrete surfaces, the balance between protection and design is essential. Sicorol F helps preserve the material’s natural appearance while forming a barrier against moisture, pollutants, and aging processes. This ensures the architectural vision remains visible over the long term. Logistically, Sicorol F also proves to be a practical solution: Delivery was made on call in 1,010-kg containers, tailored to the requirements of the construction site. This method of supply supported continuous construction progress and demonstrates the product’s suitability for larger construction projects with corresponding requirements for design and durability.

Quality in the Context of Architectural Requirements

The project demonstrates how protection and design can be combined. Sicorol F blends unobtrusively into the architectural language and fulfills a functional role: It helps preserve the surfaces, supports the durability of the building envelope, and thus contributes to long-lasting architecture in an urban context.
