Emidat wins Innovation Prize of the Supplier Industry 2026
The 2026 Innovation Prize of the Supplier Industry for Concrete Components, presented on March 10 as part of the 70th BetonTage, goes to the Munich-based company Emidat. The award recognized a digital platform for verified environmental and product data that makes it easier for building materials manufacturers to create and provide relevant information, which will be presented in this article.
Heidelberg Materials also received an honorable mention from the expert jury for the world’s first near-zero cement with industrial CO₂ capture (Evo Zero), as did Steeltec for its Online Corrosion Initiation Modeling App (OCIMA).
Platform for Verified Environmental and Product Data
Verified environmental data will become mandatory at the latest when the CPR comes into effect. What is currently provided as an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) will in the future become part of the Digital Product Passport (DPP). For precast concrete manufacturers, this means that without the ability to quickly and scalably generate environmental data such as EPDs, there is a risk of significant consequences in the worst-case scenario.
Emidat’s platform is the first fully product- and manufacturer-agnostic solution that automates the creation, management, and verification of EPDs - reducing time and costs by up to 90%.
The innovation lies in the combination of full process automation, the tool’s pre-verification, and a radical user focus. While existing software is tailored to LCA experts, Emidat addresses the realities of precast production: technical managers, quality assurance teams, or sales staff who need to deliver precise, standards-compliant data - quickly and without external consulting.
Over 100 companies already rely on Emidat - including key players in the precast concrete industry such as Railbeton, Graspointner, and Cemex. Since its market launch in 2024, more than 35 product groups have been integrated for customers in 15 countries.
Innovation Prize of the Supplier Industry for Concrete Components
The Innovation Award has been presented since 2002 by FBF Betondienst GmbH, organizer of the BetonTage, in collaboration with the trade journal BFT International Betonwerk + Fertigteil-Technik. The competition aims to highlight the importance of innovation for the precast concrete industry as a whole and to provide a platform for the innovation potential of the supplier industry. The 18 submissions were presented in brief in the BFT issues 02 and 03/2026.
