Innovation: Digital platform for verified environmental and product data
The precast concrete industry faces a double challenge: it is one of the most emission-intensive industries worldwide and, with the upcoming EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR), is facing the biggest regulatory change in decades. Verified environmental data will become mandatory when the CPR comes into force. What is currently provided as an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) will in future become part of the Digital Product Passport (DPP). For precast concrete manufacturers, this means that without the ability to quickly and scalably generate environmental data such as EPDs, they face significant risks in the worst case, including sales bans, penalties, competitive disadvantages, and barriers to innovation.
Creating a verified EPD for a single product currently takes up to 12 months, costs around €15,000, and requires significant internal resources. For manufacturers with broad product portfolios, this is not scalable and slows competitiveness and innovation. Emidat changes this approach. It is the first fully product- and manufacturer-agnostic platform that automates the creation, management, and verification of EPDs, reducing time and costs by up to 90%. The entire process takes only a few days, is EN 15804 and ISO 21930 compliant, and includes an integrated pre-verification mechanism.
Emidat’s innovation lies in the combination of full process automation, built-in pre-verification, and a strong user focus. Unlike existing tools designed for LCA experts, Emidat is tailored to the needs of prefabrication environments, enabling technical, quality, and sales teams to generate reliable, standards-compliant data quickly and without external consultants.
The platform functions as a central operating system for environmental and product data:
Automated life cycle analysis with integrated plausibility checks and text modules from a database of over 130,000 EPDs.
Direct publication thanks to pre-verification by leading program bodies such as EPD Global, IBU (Germany), and INIES (France) – without expensive individual verification of EPDs.
Data intelligence instead of storage: The environmental data collected can be used to identify CO2 and resource drivers in formulations and processes, optimize products, and document progress in a measurable way.
For precast concrete plants, this means:
Regulatory certainty in series production – EPDs and future DPPs generated in bulk and auditable at any time.
Market advantages – transparent and comparable environmental performance as a clear differentiator in tenders.
Efficiency leap – from 12 months to a few days, and from five-figure costs to just a few euros per product.
Networking – seamless integration into BIM and product databases for immediate use by architects and planners.
Over 100 companies rely on Emidat, including leading precast concrete players such as Railbeton, Graspointner, and Cemex. Since its 2024 market launch, more than 35 product groups have been implemented for customers in 15 countries, with excellent user satisfaction (NPS 9.3/10).
Emidat transforms a complex, costly obligation into a strategic advantage, enabling the precast concrete industry to turn regulatory requirements into competitive leverage and make them fit for a climate-neutral future.
