Quality improvement by optimizing a colloidal mixer

From simulation to practice

The method of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to simulate processes has become an effective tool to optimize processes and machine designs. The systematic improvement of complex processes under realistic conditions is enabled by the resource efficiency and detailed options available to analyze process parameters in the simulation, combined with selected real-life tests for validation purposes. This paper describes such an approach applied to the optimization of a colloidal mixer jointly implemented by IAB Weimar gGmbH (formerly IFF Weimar e.V.) and MAT Mischanlagen GmbH.
