Various certification systems exist to assess the sustainability of buildings and structures, including BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method; the UK system), LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design; the US system), DGNB (Deutsches Gütesiegel Nachhaltiges Bauen; sustainable construction label awarded by the German Sustainable Building Council), and BNB (Bewertungssystem Nachhaltiges Bauen für Bundesgebäude; sustainable construction assessment system for German federal buildings).
