360° all-round visibility meets maximum laying comfort

This new concept of pavement laying began with observation and with dialog on the construction site. The Swabian company Probst, as customer-oriented innovation leader, located in Erdmannhausen, Germany, has applied feedback from users and has called existing industrial solutions into question. The result is a trailblazing concept of pavement laying: the Probst VM-X-Pavermax.

“In this logically consistent approach, Probst combined its 60-year knowhow, gained as international world market leader of construction-materials handling with the knowledge of a hidden champion of pavement laying machines. The control of pavement laying is now convenient and transparent as never before”, says Eric Wilhelm, Managing Director of the Probst Group. “Because, starting out from the requirements of users, we have recognized that a number of things at the construction site must simply be reinvented.”

In the construction machinery industry, existing machine solutions have frequently for decades been optically and technically improved in only small steps. The Swabian manufacturer opted for a fundamentally new concept of pavement laying. “Objective achieved – we have created a new standard for the modern construction site”, says Eric Wilhelm, whose enthusiasm for the VM-X-Pavermax and its application concept is clearly apparent.

Holger Merholz, General Sales Manager at Probst, is also enthusiastic: “The VM-X-Pavermax once again clearly shows our claim: ‘We make heavy work easier’.” The 360° all-round view with full glazing provides an entirely new sense of space and an optimal view of the laying edge. Stability against overturning with a load capacity up to 700 kg and the optional automatic programs ensure efficient laying of all commercially available interlocking paving units.

New reference class of laying machines

The VM-X-Pavermax as product family is brought to the international market with four attractive equipment versions to meet the various requirements of customers worldwide. The Probst Group, with sales companies in Europe, America and Asia, has in recent years realized above-average growth in the industry through a network of dealers with more than 1,400 sales points. This combination of Probst grip and laying machine is therefore aimed not only at the European market: it will get a good grip on all international markets.“

“We have designed a new vehicle platform that enables us to manufacture four powerful machines to meet the individual requirements of our customers,” explains Marius Kaltenbach, Team Manager for Laying Technology in the Probst Development Department. Among the four varieties of VM-X-Pavermax – Basic, Standard, Comfort and Premium – customers can individually chose from basic to full equipment versions with efficient automatic programs. All versions share quiet running smoothness and a double articulated steering system for maximum maneuverability in the tightest spaces  – an elementary requirement for today’s construction machines on confined, inner-city construction sites.

The tail end, so to speak, of this concept is the time-tested Probst laying grip that can be easily adjusted to the manufacturer-specific paving blocks to belayed. Buyers of the VM-X-Pavermax can expect high laying performance. “The more square meters of pavers layed per hour, the more money earned,” as Holger Merholz emphasizes an important economic aspect of pavement laying. Another factor involved with cost-effectiveness: as additional application, the VM-X-Pavermax can work efficiently with many lifting solutions provided by Probst vacuum technology, making it a genuine all-round layer.

The new VM-X-Pavermax could be seen in action for the first time at this year’s TiefbauLive, from 5 to 7 May in Karlsruhe.
