100 years of Wesling: a century that leaves its mark
This year, the Wesling corporate group celebrates its 100th year of existence – a noteworthy anniversary for a family enterprise that, for four generations, has stood for continuity, innovation strength and responsible entrepreneurship. Founded in 1925 by Ferdinand Wesling I in Münchehagen, in the German federal state of Lower Saxony, the company developed from a small quarrying operation to a broadly positioned corporate group with about a dozen subsidiaries in the sectors of transport logistics, minerals, underground and strip mining, waste disposal and concrete and plastics production.
The corporate origin lies in the Weserbergland area in Lower Saxony, where Ferdinand Wesling I with entrepreneurial farsightedness built up the first marketing of stone in this region. Today, the corporate group is led by Ferdinand Wesling IV. The fifth generation, including Jan Ferdinand Wesling, is also already active in the company. Today, a workforce of approx. 770 is part of the Wesling family – many for decades. And it is not uncommon that several generations work under one roof.
Today still deeply rooted in northern Germany
To this day, the corporate group is deeply rooted in the German north – with numerous locations in the German federal states of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and beyond. Sustainability and social engagement are central values. Wesling understands responsibility holistically: including environmentally sound mining, plastics recycling, closed water circulation in concrete production, ecologically valuable compensation areas and educational projects such as the Dinopark in Münchehagen.
For the occasion of the 100th anniversary on 23 May 2025, the company invited business partners to a festive event, followed on 24 May by a celebration for all employees, friends and families. We would like to thank all those who have made the success story of the Wesling corporate group possible.
