“Hidden Champion” celebrates 65th Anniversary

In its 65th year of existence, Teka Maschinenbau GmbH has set another significant milestone in its successful corporate development: The family-run company from Edenkoben was honored as a “Hidden Champion” of the Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion. The award recognizes medium-sized companies that are global leaders in their respective niches and stand out for their innovative strength, sustainable growth, and international competitiveness. The ceremonial presentation of the award certificate took place on April 30, 2026, at the Stadthalle in Kandel (Southern Palatinate). The award is based on a scientific study by Prof. Dr. Jan-Philipp Büchler of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences, which was conducted on behalf of TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe GmbH.

“Hidden champions” are defined as companies that rank among the top three globally in their industry or are market leaders on their home continent, generate annual revenue between five million and five billion euros, and are relatively little known outside their specific industry. Teka Maschinenbau GmbH meets these criteria to a remarkable degree and was honored as an outstanding example of entrepreneurial excellence.

A Family-Owned Company with an International Presence

When Alfred Gartner founded the company in 1961 together with five employees, he could hardly have imagined that 65 years later, Teka would develop into an internationally successful company with around 130 employees. The company name was derived from his mother’s first name, Thekla – shortened by two letters. Today, the company is led by the second generation – Gabi, Markus, and Thomas Gartner. The management team is supported by their grandson, Richard Gartner, in the areas of international sales and marketing.

In addition to the corporate headquarters in Edenkoben, Palatinate, the group now includes another manufacturing facility in China as well as long-standing sales subsidiaries in the U.S., Poland, Spain, and France.

Thanks to Employees and Customers

“We were surprised that our company was on the radar in this economically strong region, and we are very proud of this award,” explains the Gartner family. “Above all, it is a recognition of our experienced and loyal employees, who have been with Teka for an average of about 20 years.” At the same time, the Gartner family would like to express their sincere gratitude to their long-standing customers both at home and abroad for the trust and the collaborative partnership that has spanned many decades.

“Especially in a time when reliability and quality are more important than ever, mutual trust, respect, and open dialogue form the foundation for sustainable shared success. This active partnership is an essential part of our daily work and the key to a continued successful future.”
