Braun-Steine Showcases Plantable Paving Systems at GaLaBau

At GaLaBau 2026 in Nuremberg, Braun-Steine demonstrated how paved surfaces can be greened without losing the necessary load-bearing capacity. At its nearly 30-meter-long booth, the company combined various paving systems with vegetation joints, planting openings, perennials, grasses, and hardy herbs.
The focus was on how to combine green space with load-bearing capacity. Spacer cams define the joint widths while also ensuring the stones interlock within the pattern. This is particularly relevant, for example, for areas used by pedestrians and cyclists that must simultaneously remain capable of withstanding the weight of fire trucks.
Different Joints and Planting Areas
Among the products on display were Arena, Polyline, and other pavers with vegetation joints. Depending on the system, the joints can be opened to varying degrees, or larger planting areas can be integrated into the surface. Using a magnetic display featuring 3D-printed stones, visitors could see how different spacers function. The installation of the organically shaped Arena paving system was also demonstrated.
According to Andreas Brunkhorst, a product developer at Braun-Steine, there was a high level of interest and demand for information during the trade show. In addition to design and installation, suitable plants and substrates also played a key role.
