Influence of machine technology on the production of high-performance concretes

Motivation

During the last few years, the construction industry is seeing a trend towards the development of new high-performance materials featuring tailor-made properties (Fig. 1). New materials require new production techniques and the further development of the mixing process in particular. Especially, as far as high-performance concretes are concerned, this development process unfortunately does not take place in parallel. Therefore, at present there are deficits between the optimization of mix designs in the laboratory and the machine technology available.
