Alongside the Precast show in Phoenix, Arizona a plant tour to the nearby pipe producing plant has been organized. Visitors had the chance to take a look behind the scenes. Being built as a response to the growing water control infrastructure needs of rapidly expanding Arizona markets, Hanson Pipe & Precast’s new El Mirage, Ariz. facility will produce concrete pipe products for use in storm water drainage systems and sewers leading to water treatment facilities.

The 110,000-square-foot fully automatic pipe factory, was the first of its kind in the Western U.S. when it started production at the end of 2007. Located in El Mirage, it is managed by Donn Aspey and employs approximately 35 people. With the new technology of automated systems for pipe production, curing and testing, Hanson can produce, on average, 600 tons of concrete products per day, which represents a significant increase in production capacity for the company.
