CFRP shaped bars – Conventional production of
reinforcement for carbon concrete

Non-metallic types of reinforcement currently available on the market are mainly offered in flat shapes such as straight bars or grids. Special non-metallic form reinforcements, which are required for the construction of shear reinforcement cages and rigid corner elements, for example, are only available as special, made-to-measure products.

Johne & Groß GmbH has been offering the necessary
non-metallic form reinforcement since the beginning of 2021 and is continuously working on its further development.

Using a standardized forming process, three-dimen-
sional components and structures are produced quickly and cost-effectively from flat reinforcement
products. Reinforcement grids and bars made of carbon and glass fibers are currently used for this purpose. In various projects, standard forms of reinforcement known from steel reinforcement construction were successfully implemented for numerous concrete components using thermoformable, non-metallic reinforcement grids and bars.

Within the framework of the “Industrial Standard Carbon Concrete” project sponsored by RUBIN, Johne & Groß GmbH has been working closely with the Institute of Concrete Structures at Dresden University of Technology. Bond and strength values for the shaped braided yarns are established as a function of the bending diameter. The knowledge gained is of central importance for a broad application of the reinforcement and serves as a basis for designing and dimensioning concrete components with non-metallic form reinforcement.

As a rebar steel bending company, Johne & Groß GmbH is convinced of the application of non-metallic types of reinforcement in structural concrete construction. This innovative type of reinforcement will revolutionize concrete construction and will promote the development of new products. In addition to the production of form reinforcement, the company offers a comprehensive package of services including advice, component dimensioning, as well as reinforcement design, construction and supply.
