Webinar: Welding Procedures and Best Practices
23.07.2018Reinforcing steel serves as the backbone of a precast concrete structure when certain stresses exceed the concrete capacity. The ability of that reinforcing assembly to work as designed depends on many factors, including how the assembly was welded. When welding rebar, one must first determine if it can be welded in the first place. Once that’s addressed, certain best practices should be used.
The webinar “Welding Procedures and Best Practices” offered by the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) will contain important and useful guidelines on how to weld reinforcement efficiently and safely. Different methods will be examined including fusion, arc and tack welding. Attendees will discuss how to preheat when necessary, how to use electrodes and how to diagnose defects in the weld.
