The US subsidiary of Thomas Concrete Group has acquired the assets of two Ford Redi-Mix concrete plants in South Carolina, USA. The plants will be integrated into Thomas Concrete's existing operations in Charleston and strengthen the group's investments in the US market. The acquisition was completed on January 30. Ford Redi-Mix has been present in the US market for over 80 years and is an important concrete supplier to the construction industry, particularly in the southeastern coastal regions around Charleston, where Thomas Concrete Inc. is also based. The region is growing thanks to the port, aviation, and automotive industries, as well as a strong IT sector and tourism.

Investment in the future

“With this acquisition, we are expanding our production capacity, optimizing our logistics, and supporting further growth in the US construction sector. Especially in difficult times, it is important for us as a family-owned company to invest for the long term. This acquisition is an investment in the future and strengthens our competitiveness and customer service,” said Hans Karlander, CEO and President of the Thomas Concrete Group.

William Ford, founder of Ford's Redi-Mix, will continue to serve the company in a commercial capacity. His extensive market experience and close customer relationships will be of great value.

"The acquisition underscores our long-term commitment to the Charleston market and our focus on building strong local partnerships. By integrating Ford's Redi-Mix facilities into our existing operations, we will be able to better serve our customers while continuing the tradition of a company that has been rooted in the region for generations," explains Hans Karlander. The acquisition agreement was signed on January 30, and integration will begin in the spring.
