The construction industry is on the cusp of profound change. New materials and manufacturing technologies are transforming traditional processes, enabling more resource-efficient construction methods and opening up completely new design and construction freedoms.

Three technologies stand out in particular: 3D printing, lightweight construction with carbon concrete and fibre-reinforced plastics.

That's why you have the opportunity to take part in CU Innovation Day – a day full of insights, practical examples and discussions on the key technologies that will have a lasting impact on the construction industry in the coming years.

3D printing in construction already makes it possible to manufacture complex, customised components directly from digital models – efficiently, resource-conserving and with a high degree of design precision.

Revolution in lightweight construction

Carbon concrete is revolutionising lightweight construction: combining high-strength concrete with corrosion-resistant non-metallic reinforcement results in delicate, durable and sustainable components. This technology not only significantly reduces material usage and CO₂ emissions, but also opens up new architectural possibilities.

Fibre-reinforced plastics are increasingly being used in load-bearing and non-load-bearing components – especially where low weight, high durability and corrosion resistance are required. Significant technological progress is expected in the next three to five years: the transition from pilot to series applications will be accelerated, while at the same time there will be greater integration into existing construction processes. At the same time, new value is being created through digital and material-based innovations. Sustainability and circularity are increasingly becoming the focus of technological development and regulatory frameworks.

CU Innovation Day offers a compact platform to learn about current trends, completed projects and future scenarios – and to gain inspiration for your own applications and partnerships.

A joint dinner will be offered on the evening of the event.
