The awarding of 10 sponsorship prizes in 10 years with consistently high numbers of participants from among the students at Bochum University of Applied Sciences – a joyful and successful anniversary for the FDB and its passion project, promoting young talent in planning and construction with precast concrete elements.
On January 22, 2026, the three students from the winning group 5 received the FDB sponsorship award worth €500. Congratulations to Joshua Brombach, Daria Decker, and Jannik Nahrwold. Their winning project stood out from seven project submissions in the 2025/2026 winter semester; a total of 25 students participated in this year's competition. The technically sound work of the individual groups once again highlighted the creativity, commitment, and innovative strength of young talent in the development of forward-looking solutions in precast concrete construction.
The jury was unanimous: the winning project not only solved the tasks set for the planning of a two-aisled hall in an exemplary manner, but also worked out every detail of the project to perfection.
Summary of the project by Group 5
The three students succeeded in impressing the jury with their remarkably detailed work, from the structural planning and calculation to the construction schedule. All project components were handled at a high technical level and the results were presented competently. The integration of a fire wall, as required in the task, was solved in a technically optimal manner. The work was rounded off by a well-founded sustainability assessment – further proof that the students went the proverbial extra mile in all areas.
Special thanks go to Professor Andrej Albert (Bochum University of Applied Sciences) and lecturer Dirk Dörr (ft engineering) for supervising and implementing the Precast Construction module at the Institute of Structural Engineering, Department of Solid Construction at Bochum University of Applied Sciences over the past 10 years.
