Use of recycled materials from a recycler’s perspective – facts about availability, quantities, quality, and application limits

The construction industry faces the challenge of conserving resources while providing high-quality materials. Recyclates from mineral waste offer a sustainable solution here. The presentation provides a comprehensive overview of the possible applications of RC building materials and their significance for the circular economy.

First, the requirements for raw materials and the common processing and manufacturing methods for RC building materials will be explained. It will be shown how modern techniques – such as those used at Feess – can be used to turn mineral waste into high-quality RC aggregates that can be used as concrete aggregates or as base courses in road construction.

A key point is quality assurance. Internal and external monitoring as well as certifications ensure that the materials meet the high requirements of the relevant DIN standards and technical regulations. These standards are crucial for ensuring the reliability and safety of RC building materials in practice. In addition, insights into current research and development will be provided, which opens up new fields of application and further improves the performance of recycled materials.

The aim of the presentation is to provide information on the availability, quantities, quality, and application limits of recycled materials – and to show how these materials can make an important contribution to sustainable construction.
