Handover ceremony for BVB Walk of Fame concrete slab
On August 10, 2025, Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund bid farewell to Mats Hummels, one of its greatest soccer legends. The game was packed with emotional moments as the “Yellow Wall” cheered the club’s longtime defensive leader. Hummels was visibly moved and grateful for this dignified farewell. During the season opener, he received a special honor in front of over 80,000 spectators at the sold-out Signal Iduna Park: the handover of his BVB “Walk of Fame” concrete slab.
Remei & BPB GmbH & Co. KG, a BVB partner, is proud to contribute to the club’s history. It is a great honor for the company to manufacture the “Walk of Fame” slabs. This exemplary project honors the club’s iconic personalities, milestones, and events by lining the path from Borsigplatz to the stadium with such slabs.
How a BVB “Walk of Fame” star is created
The base slab is manufactured using black, fiber-reinforced, high-performance concrete. Thanks to its unique raw material mix, this concrete is self-compacting and exhibits excellent durability once hardened.
A brass star custom milled on a CNC machine is inserted into the concrete base with utmost precision. State-of-the-art protective coatings are also applied to achieve a perfect, long-lasting result.
On August 26, 2025, the time had come for the slab to be installed. It is now freely accessible to supporters outside the stadium in the northwest corner. Mats Hummels’ legacy thus remains not only in the hearts and minds of fans but is also firmly rooted in Dortmund’s ground.
