Use of UHPC precast slabs for developing ­noise-­reducing concrete road pavements

Nowadays, about 20 % of the EU population are exposed to noise levels in excess of 65 dB(A). 90% of this noise is caused by road traffic [1]. In Germany, about 2.8 million people are permanently exposed to noise levels higher than 65 dB(A) but relevant authorities have only limited scope for influencing noise reduction from a technical perspective [2].
