Unusual flood protection with textured formliners

Dresden, the capital of the state of Saxony in Germany, is situated on the River Elbe and is also known as “Florence on the Elbe,” for its fascinating architecture and art treasures. During the years of high flood in 2002, 2006 and 2013, however, many parts of the city were more reminiscent of Venice: entire streets, partly quite a distance from the Elbe embankment, stood under water: basements were flooded, art treasures endangered and buildings damaged. In the record year of 2013, the water had reached a maximum level of 9.40 m.
