Sardinian industry leader invests in cutting-edge
solutions to advance production

Consultecna decided to buy cutting-edge machinery and is convinced that this will not be the last investment in this direction. Recently, a highly flexible mold from Tecnocom, a Progress Group company, has been installed for the production of precast columns, helping the industry leader to stay ahead.

Automation and manual work combined

Francesco Pireddu, CEO of Consultecna, explains the decision made in favor of automation although the long-established business continues to include manual work steps in many areas, and why the two aspects do not contradict each other: “For us, automation means trying to automate some of the processes, thus being able to better focus our energies on the more detailed aspects while also not losing the craftsmanship aspect of the factory.”

Advanced production for the leading precast producer in Sardinia

Providing the complete range comprising foundation elements, structural precast solutions and façade panels in different surface designs, Consultecna is now advancing the production process by automating the manufacture of 28.5 m long precast columns with corbels that are up to 100 cm high and up to 100 cm wide. The highly flexible mold makes it possible to produce columns with sections ranging from 30 × 30 cm to 100 × 100 cm, and a pitch of 10 cm. The specific project to which these elements are delivered includes the construction of an international air force flight training center, which is a project of considerable importance.

The family-run company was founded in 1994 by the Pireddu family. Employing 40 people, it is one of the most important businesses in the Sardinian world of prefabrication. The state-of-the-art plant extends over an area of 55,000 square meters and produces elements for roughly forty structures per year, including commercial and industrial buildings. Consultecna is the supplier of choice for the most important national and foreign retail chains and serves the entire territory of the beautiful island of Sardinia, not least thanks to its central location.

Why Tecnocom?

Francesco Pireddu hopes to order another mold soon because Tecnocom has not only convinced him by being a well-known brand and the epitome of reliability on the market, but also as a result of the tailor-made solution developed as requested: “The excellent technical solution proposed to us for the positioning of the corbels on the mold has greatly benefitted our production and has been provided efficiently by the innovative Udine-based company.”
