Prestressed precast floor slabs: large spans and load capacities – including heating and cooling function

In particular, if architecture is using free design for interior space and very large distances have to be spanned, prestressed precast floor slabs of Dennert provide a wide variety of options – even totally without disturbing columns or load-bearing walls; this floor construction allows planners to realize spans of more than 13 m effortlessly. Due to the wide variety of floor thicknesses there are virtually no limits on architecture, high load capacities also meet special requirements in industrial and commercial construction. In case of multi-story construction, there are the additional benefits of excellent fire protection and sound insulation properties.

The 1.20-m wide prestressed concrete hollow core slabs with smooth bottom view are manufactured on extra-long production lines equipped with modern and precise CNC technology. The prestressing steel is automatically pulled and hydraulically prestressed before placing the concrete of the floor slabs. After hardening, every element is exactly cut to the length required in accordance with the specifications given by the client.

The floor slabs provide additional functions, alternatively heating or cooling depending on the season. The SP Therm floor slab, for example, as well as the DX Therm air-conditioned ceiling, incorporate decades-long experience of Dennert, the market leader in Germany concerning thermally-active building components. The solution combines the advantages of a prestressed concrete floor with high energy efficiency. The conduits built in the floor elements allow for cooling and heating via the ceiling and this in combination with extremely short reaction times.
