New building for in-house production in Karlsruhe

In order to meet the growing demand for more space to accommodate increasing in-house production, Wiggert & Co. GmbH has now started the new construction of a production building. With this measure, the manufacturer of high-quality concrete mixing systems pursues the strategy to manufacture, in the long term, all plant components at the Karlsruhe location in Germany. The Wiggert Management celebrated a groundbreaking event at the site of the newbuild on 21 January 2021; completion is planned for the autumn of 2021.

Wiggert is heavily investing in the new Karlsruhe location, even in these economically challenging times: the company has begun construction of the new production building in the city’s district of Palmbach, which will increase in-house production capacities by approximately 25 percent. Logistically favorably located directly on the motorway access, the newbuild will have a usable space of around 1,900 m2. The company Harsch Bau GmbH & Co. KG, based in Bretten, Germany, was commissioned as general contractor with construction of the production building.

Rapid construction progress with precast elements

The time plan for the newbuild is tightly cycled: the official groundbreaking ceremony for the production building was conducted on 21 January 2021 by the managing directors of Wiggert, Martin Wieland and Andreas Schilli. Official hand-over of the keys is planned to take place already in the autumn of 2021.

“As manufacturer of concrete mixing system we planned the newbuild, of course, with precast elements,” explained Martin Wieland. “This noticeably speeds up the construction phase, so that we expect to implement the first customer projects in the new building already at the end of the year. Erection of some 110 precast elements with a total weight of 730 tons is currently underway in Palmbach.

“Made in Karlsruhe” as corporate strategy

With the new production building, Wiggert will have the required capacities for increasing production depth still further and to do without outsourcing. “We are firmly convinced that we are able to manufacture all plant components efficiently and competitively here in Karlsruhe,” says Martin Wieland. “In this way we improve the quality of our plant, reduce delivery times and create new jobs in the region.” In the course of the year, as the company’s own production increases, several new jobs are planned.
